iGP Manager

iGP Manager is a game constantly in development. But you honestly can't tell. The game is a formula 1 based management game that follows the 2009 calendar. It allows you to build up your own team from scratch. You will be given a basic car for your first race, which you have to develop by hiring designers and a chief designer. Do you attempt to go for glory in your current season, or abandon it in favour of a stronger second season? With a simple slider to adjust design focus, you have complete control over the focus of design.

You will also need a driver. Do you go for experience, or try and find a young blood that will be a future champion and train him up? Staff and driver training can be carried out before each race, with driver aspects focussing on attacking, defending, speed, mental, technical and physical.

Although not yet a fully working feature, you will also need a technical director to provide you with a strategy for each race. Tweak it to your liking, or go with the default. From the same menu, you can also adjust your car set up. You have five laps per weekend to set up your car, with your driver feeding back to you recommendations. Set up early so you don't forget, or wait late and get the ideal conditions. Buy a simulator and your basic set up will be closer to the perfect set up.

Of course, no team is complete without suppliers and sponsors! You are able to negotiate engine, fuel and tyre suppliers, with each having at least 5 available options. Do you go for a cheap Cosurworthit engine deal, or go with one of the more expensive but better Tifosi or Murk deal? Of course, there are middle of the range deals too! Try and be too greedy when asking for cheap deals or big sponsor deals and you'll be rejected, but go to far the other way and your team can lose a lot of money!

As for the actual races, different leagues hold them at different times and for different lengths. This is where the cool stuff comes in, but also the money.

Non subscribers have to make do with live timing screens and a few buttons with which to control the driver (5 options for how hard the driver pushes, a pit menu and manual KERS control if you've researched it). Subscribers (and new players on a trial) get to use the 2D viewer - a detailed track map with dots for every car. You will be able to control DRS (again, if you've researched it) and also have the options listed above, as well as having sound effects and timing screens. The push options allow you to control your tyre temps - these are just as crucial as they are in real life! If you have a worn car, easing off will allow you to look after the car - you don't get points for failing to finish!

If you choose, you can also pay to rent a weather station once you reach a high enough level, which will allow you to see forecasts. You can also sell merchandise to raise income.

Overall, iGP is a very fun game that has no real difference between subscribers and non subscribers. I would really recommend it.

The car development screen. As you can see, it is possible to control how many designers are on each part and adjust how much development focus goes on each season. You can also spy on other players' cars, allowing you to clone designs - at the risk of lowering your development of the next season's car.

Great work!

Out of 10, what score would you give it?
